Our Common Future: A Reader's Guide

Front Cover
Earthscan, 1987 - Business & Economics - 38 pages
Our Common Future is a 400 page long report from the World Commission on Environment and Development voicing the deep concern over both the speed and irreversibility with which the planet's environmental resources are being squandered. The Commission's main task was to come up with a global agenda for change. Its mandate spelled out three objectives: 1)To re-examine the critical environment and development issues and to formulate realistic proposals for dealing with them 2)To propose new forms of international co-operation on these issues that will influence policies and events in the direction of needed changes 3)To raise the levels of understanding and commitment to action of individuals, voluntary organisations, businesses, institutes, and governments. This reader's guide is a slimmed-down concise version of Our Common Future, to make it available to a wider audience of both ordinary people and decision-makers.
