Ellen Schoeck retired after 35 years on the University of Alberta campus as a student and senior administrator. She has an Honours BA and an MA from the U of A, in history. She served as Director of the University Secretariat and Secretary to General Faculties Council from 1982-2005. Ellen was also 'ombudsman' and first sexual harassment advisor at the U of A from 1982-92, and senior adviser to three Presidents. While at the University, she was closely involved with student leaders, staff, faculty, non-academic staff, and senior administrators. Dozens of people on campus took her popular "Governance 101" seminar. Ellen founded two national organizations -- one dealing with human rights issues, and the other with fair play in student discipline matters. In her post-retirement life, Ellen is editor of a wine magazine and serves on the boards of St. Joseph's College and the College of Alberta Dental Assistants.
