McGuinness: Interpreting the Art of Tom McGuinnessThis exhibition was planned as a major retrospective of one of the North East's most celebrated artists in honour of his 80th birthday in April. However, sadly Tom died in February this year as work was nearing completion. After discussion with Tom's family it was decided to go ahead with both the exhibition and the book, to commemorate Tom's life and art. The exhibition brings together the full range of Tom's extraordinary output ranging from early items - part of The Jack Reading Bequest - to the present day and includes some works not previously exhibited, together with examples of Tom's mastery of printmaking. A book entitled 'McGuinness' by Robert McManners and Gillian Wales will be launched to coincide with the exhibition. |
