This is a super little History book for Astrologers and also for those who rail against the subject.Christopher has written about the origins of astrology in ancient Babylon through to 'modern' astrology and given more than enough examples of how the practice developed as it spread across the world from its humble beginnings.
In Chapter 11 he includes 'How the Horoscope works' and concludes in Chapter 12 'The Verdict on astrology' with the lovely line: "In one sense it is not necessary for traditional astrology to readjust itself to the discoveries of science, for, as I have pointed out, the old system will always work provided that the person practising it is able to approach it in the right frame of mind...If astrology is able to revise itself completely in the light of science, then it will benefit immensely and greatly increase its already impressive following in the world."
I enjoyed reading this and have referred back to it many a time as a great example of how 'astrology affected every major civilisation and religion, has influenced politics, art, magic, medicine, even music'.
