A very useful, informative and attractive field guide. Starts off with a detailed introduction to the east african and western indian ocean region (geography, climate, culture and challenges), and then proceeds to the bulk of the book, the field guide, that has accurate and lovely watercolour illustrations along with a lot of details on coastal plant, invertebrate and vertebrate species. My only gripe is that the fish section is too small to be consistently useful at the species level, given the high diversity of fish in these parts.
Still, a much needed contribution to cataloguing life in the western indian ocean.
