This book is very hard to review. There were parts I really enjoyed but a lot of the book really dragged. I feel like there was a lot of things I didn't understand, a lot of underlying messages that weren't very clear. I liked the story about the author & his son. I liked some of his Chautauqua's, but many of them were hard to follow. I can't really recommend it. But what do I know. It was a huge seller & has a cult like following. There is probably something there I just don't happen to see it.

Life changing
If you are trying to figure out life, this and "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" might help. I found this book enthralling and beautiful and buy all copies I see at used bookstores to give to my friends.

A book I have read, re-read, and given away, only to purchase another copy. I refer to Phaedrus' quest for quality and the essence of life in my grad classes, and in the courses I teach. Bikers need to read this book. So does anyone who has ever struggled with the meaning of life and sanity.

This book changed my life. It appeared at just the right time with just the right message for me. It conveys the essence of Zen within the constructs of Western culture in a beautiful way.

I'm angry, I feel deceived. I had expected a lot, but it was just a waste of time. The writing is very rudimentary and dry, the final chapter is the kind of writing you can expect from a college boy ... Read full review

Two things you'll never hear me say: I can't ride this weekend becouse my bike is in the shop. It might not be pretty, but it's pretty fast. I read it and live it. Read full review
