Children of the flames:

Dr. Josef Mengele and the untold story of the twins of Auschwitz
Front Cover
90 Reviews
Penguin Books, May 1, 1992 - Biography & Autobiography - 320 pages
During World War II, Nazi doctor Josef Mengele subjected some 3,000 twins to medical experiments of unspeakable horror; only 160 survived. In this remarkable narrative, the life of Auschwitz's Angel of Death is told in counterpoint to the lives of the survivors, who until now have kept silent about their heinous death-camp ordeals. 8 pages of photographs.

The most important device in this book is the juxtaposition of Mengele's self absorbed disappointments in his life and trivial frustrations with the consequences of the actions he took part in with the twins memories in later life. The survivors accounts are that they cried and cried and cried, so much that even the children of Mengele's boss could not stop crying on hearing of the past.they shared. However, I have a reservation. This book is far more ambiguous than Posner's book on the 1979 drowning of "Mengele". Almost no one in the field of WW2 history is prepared to comment on the derivative material to be found by serching for Mengele and something called "Monarch Programming". It is as if no one wants to go there, or no one who has been there can tell us what all the trauma was induced for. On the web there is a lot of commentary on Mengele being the father of "Monarch Programming" (read also MK Ultra) and here too there are not even any clues into why trauma was so important. Only elsewhere can you read accounts that Mengele was working in his missing years (and beyond) on using his psychotic trauma to dissassociate subjects for supposed mental influencing...(a bit like DID or MPD). I wrote all of this angle up in 2003 and 2004, based on research in 2002, when , after 5 weeks intensive googling for an article [ Alice in Wonderland Part 1 to Part 3] I was accosted by a very old very wrinkly short man with gap teeth accompanied by a younger man and knocked from his hands a video cam corder as I recoiled from the chuckling old man's finger in my adams apple. What that means is for me, Mengele was in 2002 in the employ of some governmental agency checking out any sudden activity on the web ( maybe to see if I had been affected in my past). Fortunately I had not. been so exposed ..then...and they fled. But you see my point. History only knows what it addresses..my story is of no account compared to the twins, but I feel I should cry for the future. My guess is now the trauma can be mimicked or automated to the will of a government. This is the work that maybe flows form this real book
about real people who had real trauma. To understand that there are people around, beyond the terrors of the twins, who can feel a tear escape their orbit, but not know why is our next stop on the Freedom Train. If it was he, it took nine years to remember. Everybody should read this book, and hope that Mengele hopefully died in the sidings, and his legacy is
locked and bolted, not locked and loaded.
