A great synopsis how many of the problems of the world can be solved. Professor Yunus debunks the faults of the international development community can be solved. He admits he has had mistakes & great tribulation, but he has not rested on his laurels & accepted free donations. One of the greatest points of this masterpiece is the detriment of donations & how they keep an organization (not only individuals) from realizing their full potential.
If you have 0, 100 % faith, or anything in between in liberal market economics Muhamad Yunus's proposal for revamping the system is a great read. He inspired me to chose my various fields of study in geography, international development, finance, among many others. Once I saw & read what he accomplished I feel empowered to alleviate suffering of the poor.
The book balances well anecdotal examples & statistical data. One of the great realizations I came to after reading this book is how much less stratified Bangledash is in comparison to some its neighbors. It may not have as large of economy or GDP etc. However, some of its other development indicators have shown steady progress in a direction that provides for peace in a country rather than stratification of classes, which often brings strife, conflict, & riots.
The best proposal my hero makes is international citizenship for all. How great would it be to freely cross borders of all countries as it is in Europe & partake in the magnificent beauty of other parts of the world.
Professor Yunus my hero is a visionary that has provided the basis of what needs to take place in the world to achieve world peace.
