About the author (1997)

Alan Oliver MSc, FIWS worked formerly as a Senior Scientific Officer with TRADA and Technical Sales Director of Protim Limited, before becoming Senior Lecturer at Buckinghamshire College of Higher Education, where he specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of dampness and timber infestation in buildings.


James Douglas BSc, ARICS and J. Stewart Stirling BSc, Dip Bldg Cons, ARICS are both Lecturers in Building Surveying at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
