Review: One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer

Editorial Review - Bookreporter.com - Joe Hartlaub

Second best book I have ever read. As someone who just applied for OCS, it was great insight to what I am getting myself into. It doesn't cake it like a recruiter will. Lt. Fick tells you how it is, even the bad parts. I have and will continue to recommend it to everyone I encounter. Read this book if you are interested in seeing more about the Military today and how its not what you think.

A very interesting counter piece to Generation Kill - Told by a Lt in the same group of marines. One Bullet Away tends to be somewhat less editorial and thus less of a polished narrative, but still a very good insight to the early days of the war in Iraq. Read full review
