User Review - Flag as inappropriateGreat book, very eye-opening. I encourage all to give this book a read with an open mind.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateLies cannot exist with no one to believe nor truth. It will root until, one must accept and question nothing, then does it manifest..
This is an amazing walk through intense logic and one cannot present even remotely anything substantial that in a court of law could be described as evidence in contradiction. In essence man is not even anything, nothing any longer Outside his own existence. Everything is decidedly a devided entity unto his own. I think as civilization embraces the subtleties over the long term even discarding one round arguments beginning with the obvious complexities, we may see that finally man may begin to realize the need to implement measures that would preserve our continuance and domination of our little tiny rock that is uniqe in the entire span of existence. Billions of years of Evolution facilitated the emergence of life lately, max P. describes in his writings his thoughts on how devastating the absence of any belief other than our life span and understanding would cripple man. How can one Man know these things. TLol k I'm being immature but really I think we need some shaking up and a new analogy for building civilization. There are too many potentials to even count let alone make an educated guess in the study on our origins alone let alone the universe as an awareness a entity or possibly just dust doing things that defy understanding and possibilities as suggested in this book, a day will be when we unravel the weave of the rainbow and fully understand and it will be no less beautiful. Well that alone would be an understanding worth preserving at all costs but wonder if when we ascend through our ever-expanding view of our potential if we would look back to now as the birth of our consciousness or would it include also all those misunderstood takes on how to make a civilization. Or
Is there yet even more history. That is the reality and nothing less than a true understanding rounds up the worth the trip is that we can hurl these mountains of thought around. My beliefs aren't so insulated but I know I don't get it as I wouldn't be looking for explanations if I did. Yet I also am sure we have it mostly wrong and are in for a hell of a ride.
Subjectively not that it really means anything to anyone I apologise for portraying myself as retarded and sarcastic and veering off topic and senseless it seems a manic disorder of some type i probably should get classified, my thoughtless musings to riddle at some undercurrent of relativity inrespects to the intended use of the review. I thoroughly enjoy all of the Authors writings as stated below impeccable research and well referenced though probably just me a good blend of objectivity on a personal direction in outline. I'd just like to clarify that I respect anything that has some inherent useful qualities and documented history even twisted and undeniably appointed, scribed, outright fictitious and politically tailored is more than ever a necessary evil that needs preservation in its own glory as is.
Our biggest mistake was convincing the world that truth and lies have different meanings, and then believing
User Review - Flag as inappropriateI read this book from cover to cover.
This book is complete and thorough. Taken objectively, it is easy to tell that much thought, research, and evaluation stemming from multiple academic fields was incorporated into this single volume. Now people may not like the content delivered in this book, but that doesn't make it a poor argument, or set of arguments, and that is an important distinction to make. Dawkins lives in an evidence-based world, and therefore, created an evidence-based argument. One must remember: in science, and really as well as life, one cannot start with a conclusion and work their way backwards, filling in the gaps (with contradictions) with stuff they just make up, along the way. Dawkins himself says: should there be evidence that refutes any or all of the theories concerning evolutionary biology, he feels it would be his duty to consider the new evidence and change his mind, if need be--as it should be.
Book reviews based on emotion and perceived fear of retribution from a divine source are inappropriate. This review comes from a person who honestly but reluctantly ranks himself a 3 on the Dawkins scale of 1-7; Childhood indoctrination is a hard thing to overcome.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateA masterpiece, an absolute phenemonal piece of literature, it heeds a place in my home and rightfully so, as it should in all schools - as so put by Philip Pullman. Richard Dawkins you are a mastermind.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateI love the book,
although I think a more accurate title would be "The Church delusion", as few of is arguements are against a God, and more how Man acts with "knowledge" of a god.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateGood counter points
After spending a life time studying science I could easily see someone fighting a battle with all religion. It is insulting to have your studies be attacked because ancient superstitious texts had a different version.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateReally well written.
Those who think it's a bad book pointed out reasons that were already ruled out within the book itself, so obviously they didn't understand it all. Those who think it was boring obviously are not meant to read books this advanced.
User Review - Flag as inappropriateEnlightening and Insightful
This book is a well articulated look at the irrationality present in most forms of religion. Dawkins does a wonderful job of calling to light facts and fallacies, and then adding his philosophical speculations, which he clearly labels as such. People have criticized this book for a lack of factual evidence for the "claims" Dawkins makes, but in reading the book, I found it quite clear when he was presenting reasonable speculation vs fact. As intended, this book mostly serves as a consciousness raiser.

If you cannot digest the sensibility and knowledge provided in the God Delusion I feel sorry for you ... this book puts everything in perspective.
