For the first time a book is available which clearly explains the principles and practical applications of Ayurveda, the oldest healing system in the world. This beautifully illustrated text thoroughly explains history & philosophy, basic principles, diagnostic techniques, treatment, diet, medicinal usage of kitchen herbs & spices, first aid, food aid, food antidotes and much more.

Dr. Vasant Lad introduces the ancient medical science of Ayurveda. This book is a MUST for anyone looking for a brief overview of what Ayurveda is, its long history as it has emerged worldwide over the past 3000 years and how it can help keep us healthy by promoting living in balance.
This was a real eye-opener for me only really understanding Western Medicine and a bit of Chinese herbal medicine.
Dr. Lad and this book were my inspiration to start GoVeda.com and attempt to open other Americans' eyes to holistic health and Ayurveda living.
