fascinating how language in many cases impacts on a child's future .
this book gives a wonderful insight on how a more positive approach
could alter the chances a child from a culturally poor background has
to embark on a career that the child may not otherwise thought possible .The self-fulfilling prophecy label that gets attached to too many kids has to be removed .All kids deserve a fair chance and to be
stigmatised and excluded because of geographical location or poor language skills is indeed a sad reflection on our society .That stigma and exclusion may start the moment they enter into mainstream education and remain with them throughout their school careers .Many children may
never develop high academic achievements yet may have the potential to make contributions to society given access to the appropriate tools,with the added benefit of not only raising their self-esteem but also that of their parents or guardians and perhaps even reaching out
to other children within that neighbourhood .
