Gambling Review Report

This report reviews gambling policy and practice by the Independent Gambling Review Body. The report looks at the regulations in place, particularly to protect children and prevent unfair practice or criminal infiltration. The report considers whether the industry is in need of modernisation. The report contains 176 recommendations including: A single regulatory body covering the main forms of gambling; A single Act of Parliament to incorporate all regulation relating to gambling; Legalisation of on-line gambling; Transfer responsibility for premises licences from magistrates to local authorities in the interests of democratic accountability; Research and treatment for problem gambling; A number of proposals to extend choice for adult gamblers.
