Not proofread carefully. Also, being very old edition, loses some of its relevance.
It is unfortunate that no where the vision of India 2020 has been clearly and cogently enunciated. No doubt sectoral anylysis leading to objectives and future forecast are given but that do not constitute the overall vision of the country as given once by Nehru and again recently by Rajiv. This faiure to conceptsualise is at the bottom of economists' mad search for statistics and trends rather than paint the future path of nation in global progress and context. All the writers in sectoral presentations may becompetent but the holistic picture is absent and that is the state of the country.
