Upon reading the Petition of Sir John Gordon Sinclair
of Murkle, Baronet, fetting forth, "That on the 1st
Day of March 1814 the Petitioner prefented his hum-
ceive Judges ble Petition to their Lordships, for Leave to bring in a
Report:
"Bill for the Purposes therein mentioned, and their
"Lordships were then pleased to refer the faid Petition
"to the Confideration of The Lord Prefident of the
"Court of Seffion in Scotland, The Lord Juftice Clerk
" and The Chief Baron of the Exchequer in Scotland, or
"any Two of them: That notwithstanding every exer-
"tion was made on the Part of the Petitioner, the ne-
"ceffary Notices or Intimation in The Edinburgh Gazette
"and other Newspapers could not be made, nor, in
"confequence, could the Report of The Lord Prefident
"and Lord Juftice Clerk be obtained on the faid Peti-
❝tion before the Time for receiving the Reports of the
"Judges on Petitions had expired ;" and therefore
praying their Lordfhips, "That the Report of The Lord
"Prefident of the Court of Seffion and The Lord Juf-

"and in obedience to their Lordships Standing Orders, "the Petitioner ought to have lodged his Printed Cafes "on or before the 12th Day of April inftant: That the "Petitioner and the Refpondents are in Treaty for fettling amicably the Matters under Appeal; and at a Meeting of the Refpondents, who are a Body of Cre"ditors, held on the 5th April instant, such of them as "attended approved of the Terms of Settlement proposed by the Petitioner; but the Meeting not having been thought fufficiently numerous ultimately to decide "thereon, another Meeting has been called for the 23d "inftant: That the Refpondents have fignified, by a "Letter from their Agent in Scotland, their Willingness "that the Time for lodging the Petitioner's Cafes fhould "be enlarged, if their Lordfhips fhall be graciously pleafed to permit this ;" and therefore praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to order, that the "Time limited for lodging the Petitioner's Printed Cafes may be enlarged for Two Months, or for fuch other "Time as to their Lordships may feem meet :"

A Petition of The Right Honorable and Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of Kildare, Plaintiff in a Writ of Error depending in this House, wherein The Reverend Thomas Smyth is Defendant, was prefented and read; fetting forth, "That on or about the 1ft Day of April "inftant the Appellant brought a Writ of Error to "their Lordships, in order to have a Judgement (ob"tained against him by the Refpondent in His Majesty's "Court of Exchequer in Ireland) reversed: That George

Booth Tyndale, the Agent to the faid Appellant, only "received Information of fuch Writ of Error having "been brought, and Inftructions to affign Error there"upon, on the 18th Day of the fame Month of April; " and on his proceeding to affign the fame, he was in"formed that the Eight Days allowed by this Houfe for affigning Error were expired: That the Appellant and "his Solicitor being refident in Ireland has occafioned "the Delay that has taken place between the preferring "fuch Writ of Error, and the affigning Error there

"She told me he was a very good Hufband; one of "the most affectionate young Men that could poffibly be; "and that when fhe was ill, he cried on account of her "Illness, which made me believe they were very happy. "Had you ever any Reafon to believe otherwise?

"Did you ever hear her fay any Thing on the Subject "of her returning to Mefina?

"Yes, fhe told me the intended to return.

"To what Lodgings did the remove from Surry "Street ?

"To Lambeth Walk.

"To whofe House? "Mr. Simpson.

"Do you remember calling upon her one Morning "when you found her with fome Perfon?

"I remember calling one Morning, but I did not fee "the Perfon.

"State the Circumftances.

"Her Child fhe had taken from the Nurfe; I feared "the Child might have been neglected, and went for it. "The Door of the House was open; I went up Stairs; the "Bed-room Door was locked, and the Servant cleaning "the Front Room. I asked the Servant for Mrs. Green, "she told me she was not up; I went to the Door to ask "her to let me in, fhe told me she would not let me in. "Do you know the Name of that Servant? "Lander, I think.

"Do you know what is become of that Servant? "I do not; I enquired, and her Brother told me the was gone to America.

"Have you any Reason to doubt the Truth of that? "I have not indeed.

"Go on with the Circumstances that occurred.

"I knocked at the Door; Mrs. Green told me the "would not allow me to go in till fhe was dreffed. I made "Answer, you were not always fo particular. I remained "there a Quarter of an Hour or Twenty Minutes."

"I suppose it might have been in May.
