[AS the little book, here offered to the publick, was undertaken with a view to general information, and defigned in particular for the amusement and instruction of youth, all technical terms have been ftudioufly avoided; fhort, natural, and intelligible defcriptions attempted. In the courfe of the work many difficulties are folved, obfcure paffages cleared up, wrong interpretations corrected, and new beauties opened in the facred fcriptures.]

CONDITIONS.

I. The work will be printed with a new and handsome type, on good paper, in one volume duodecimo, containing about 250 pages, and adorned with a well engraved Frontispiece.

II. The price of each book, to subscribers, neatly bound and lettered, will not exceed one dollar.

III. It thall be published as foon as a fufficient number of copies are fubfcribed for. IV. Payment to be made as foon as the books are ready for delivery.

V. Thofe who fubscribe for fix copies thall have a feventh gratis.

A. DISCOURSE CONCERNING THE CHURCH.

In which the feveral acceptations of the word are explained and diftinguished-the Gofpel Covenant delineated--a right of admiffion and accefs to fpecial ordinances, in their outward administration, and inward efficacy, ftated and difcuffed. Defigned to remove the fcruples and reconcile the differences of Chriftians. BY MOSES HEMMENWAY, D. D.

THE importance of the subjects of the above mentioned Difcourfe, and the acknowledged abilities of the author to difcufs them, must recommend this work to the perufal of Chriftians in general, and particularly to those who are unfettled in those points of which it treats.

The following are the VOTES of THREE ASSOCIATIONS, the Minifters of which are well acquainted with Dr Hemmenway's fentiments and abilities. The Cumberland Affociation of Minifters, at their meeting in September, 1790, VOTED, "That as the Affociation have been informed of a design of the publication of a Difcourfe by the Rev. Mofes Hemmenway, D. D. concerning the Church, &c. wa earnestly defire it may be printed, and are difpofed to promote the fame."

At a meeting of the Affociation on Pifcataqua River" It being reprefented to the Affociation that Dr. Hemmenway, of Wells, had been writing on the fubject of admiffion to Church privileges-VOTED, That this Affociation request Dr. Hemmenway to proceed in the publication.

The Affociation at Biddeford, in Sept. 1790, unanimously passed a Vote, exprelling their earnest defire that Dr. Hemmenway would proceed in publishing his Difcourfe upon the Church, &c. and their difpofition to promote it.

CONDITION S.

1. The work will contain about 150 pages, in octavo, printed on good paper, with a fair type, and fhall be afforded to subscribers for two fbillings, in a pamphlet. II. Those who fubfcribe for fix copies, fhall have a feventh gratis.

III. The money to be paid on delivery of the books.
