The Gospel. St. John xx. 19. HE same day at evening, being the first day of the

And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace it; because those that were baptized on Easter-éve, wore seven days after white garments, called chrysoms; figns of the purity which they received in baptism; which white clothes they this day put off.-Sparrow.

The Collect.
Lmighty God, who hast given thine only Son to be

unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample of godly life; Give us grace, that we may always most thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of his molt holy life, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Epifle. 1 Peter ii. 19.
HIS is thank-worthy, if a man for conscience toward

God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? But if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently; this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no fin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; When he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own. felf bare our fins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to fins, should live unto righteousness: -by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

The Collect] This prayer for ability to follow the example of Christ was composed A. D. 1549, and inserted in Edward Vith's first prayerbook. The introitus was the lxxth psalm.

The Gospel. St. Johni x. 11. ESUS said, I am the good shepherd: the good shep

herd giveth his life for the sheep.' But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the theep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so'know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one hepherd.

evil-doers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to filence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the ser. vants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

VERY good gift, and every perfect gift, is from above,

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of fin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, becaule the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
