Jan. 3. The Rev. Samuel Smith late Chaplain to the House of Commons, has been appointed Canon of Christ Church, in the room of the Right Rev. the Bishop of Bangor.

Jan. 10. At the levee on Wednesday last the Right Rev. Dr. Randolph was presented to his Majesty by Earl Spencer, upon his being translated from the Bishopric of Oxford, to Bangor, when the Reverend Prelate did homage before his Majesty upon the occasion.

Jan. 17. Wednesday, the 14th inst. the first day of Lent Term, the Rev. E. W. Estcourt, and E. G. Marsh, B.A. of Oriel College, were admitted Masters of Arts.

Messrs. R. Sinson of Magdalen Hall; E. Herbert of Jesus College, E. Lloyd and J. Burrows of Brasenose College, were admitted Bachelors of Arts.

The King has been pleased to order a Congé d Elire to pass the Great Seal, empowering the Dean and Chapter of Christ Church in the University of Oxford, to elect a Bishop of that See, the same being void, by the translation of the Right Rev. Father in God, John, late Bishop thereof to the See of Bangor; and his Majesty has also been pleased, by his Royal Sign Manual to recommend to the said Dean and Chapter, the Rev. Charles Moss, Doctor in Divinity, and one of the Canons Residentiary of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, to be by them clected Bishop of the said See of Oxford.

Feb. 13. Right Rev. Dr. Moss consecrated Lord Bishop of this diocese, with the usual ceremonies, in the cathedral at Christ Church. His Lordship not being able to attend, the Rev. Dr. Ilay, one of the canons, officiated as his proxy.

The Rev. H. Richards, D.D. Rector of Exeter College, and Vice Chancellor of the University, unanimously elected in convocation one of the Curators of the Theatre, in the room of the Rev. S. Berdmore, D.D. warden of Merton College, who had resigned that office.
