This work appears to be a compilation by an anonymous person in French, at the instigation of Henri Bolomyer, Canon of Lausanne, out of the Speculum Historiale of Vincent de Beauvais, the prose Ferumbras or Fierebras, and other sources; and Caxton reduced the French itself into English at the request of certain noble persons.
