Un IT is now more than two months since the substance of the following pages was delivered from the pulpit, the Author having been exercised with personal affliction, and a very painful dispensation in his family; the death of one dear daughter, and two other children apparently brought to the gates of death : during which time, he has had peculiar reason to admire the goodness and faithfulness of a covenant God, which he desires to record with gratitude; as also the kind and affe&tionate attention of many dear Christian friends, during the painful visitation. Being through rich mercy in measure recovered, he has seriously reviewed the subject, and is satisfied that the sentiments advanced are agreeable to the Word of God; and as such he commits them to the divine blessing. There are many faithful ministers of Jesus Christ, from whom he conscientiously differs, for whom he feels the most cordial esteem, and with whom he desires to cultivate real friendship; and he breathes the language of his heart, when he adds---Grace, Mercy, and Peace be multiplied toward all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.
