Very nice description.
This book is a prime example of pseudo scholarship which is barely able to conceal the underlying political motivation. I compared the original preface of Hortus Malabaricus and author's supposed translation, author's sole agenda is to promote Itty Achuthan's contribution towards that great body scientific literature. Mr Sadasivan accomplishes this by denigrating knowledge and pedigree of Appu Bhat, Renga Bhat, and Vinayak Pandit; He even goes to the extent of calling them members of a "Naked Sect". The original Hortus Malabaricus describes Appu Bhat, Renga Bhat, and Vinayak Pandit as Brahmanas, and, their tongue Konkani as Lingua Brahmanica Anitqua. It available for every one to see in google. Too bad the author failed to anticipate the technological advances which gives all access to original manuscripts.
I advice not to spend a minute to reading this mediocre work...
