LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1858.

This Gazette contains a notification signed by the Right Honourable Spencer Horatio Walpole, one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, dated the 19th January, 1859, that the Local Government Act, 1858, has been adopted within the township of Mold, in the county of Flint.

THE Queen has been pleased to constitute the Colonies of British Columbia and of Vancouver's Island to be a Bishop's See, to be styled "The Bishoprick of British Columbia;" and to appoint the Reverend George Hills, D.D., to be ordained and consecrated Bishop of the said See.

The Queen has been pleased to present the Reverend James Macdonald to the church of the united parishes of Daviot and Dunlichity, in the presbytery and shire of Inverness, vacant by the

death of the Reverend Dugald Mackichan, late Minister thereof.

The Queen has also been pleased to present the Reverend John Colvin, to the church of the united parishes of Kirkmabreck and Kirkdale, in the presbytery of Wigtown, and stewartry of Kirkcudbright, vacant by the death of the Reverend John Muir, late Minister thereof.

IT is hereby notified that, in compliance with the enactment contained in the ninth clause of the Act of Parliament "For the better Government of India," passed in the session, holden in the 21st and 22nd year of Her Majesty's reign, chapter 106, a meeting, was held this day, of the Council of India, for the purpose of electing a member in the room of the late Captain John Shepherd; and that at such meeting Colonel Henry Marion Durand, C.B., of the Bengal Engineers, was duly elected to be a Member of the said Council,
