 Roseanne “Rose” Duncan, witnesses her employer push his sickly wife down the staircase. Fearing she’ll have to testify against a prominent man in town, she’s given ad for a mail order bride in Dodge City. Believing this is a way for her to escape the possible danger of her employer, she travels to Dodge City and marries under the name of Abigail Johnson. 

 

Logan Granger is a Pinkerton Detective assigned to Dodge City area as an undercover bartender. When his mail order bride, “Aggie,” steps off the train she doesn’t fit the description of a matronly woman who has agreed to his marriage contract of no emotional attachments. There’s no time to reconsider the preacher is waiting to marry them. 

About the author (2016)

 Maxine Douglas first began writing in the early 1970s while in high school. She took every creative writing course that was offered at the time and focused her energy for many, many years on poetry. When a dear friend’s sister revealed she was contracted to publish a romance it was all Maxine needed to get the ball rolling. She finished her first manuscript in a month’s time.

Maxine writes in many genres ranging from contemporary to paranormal to historical paranormal to erotic paranormal romance, and now in western historical and romantic suspense.

A Wisconsin native, Maxine currently resides in Oklahoma with her husband. While Maxine and her husband may miss their family and friends in the north, they both love the mild winters Oklahoma has to offer. They have established a home in a town southeast of Oklahoma City. They have four grown children, two granddaughters, two Quarter Horses (mother and son), and a German Shorthair Pointer. And many friends they now consider their OK family.


Maxine is a current member of the Romance Writers of America (RWA), Oklahoma Romance Writers of America (OKRWA), Wisconsin Romance Writers of America (WisRWA), and Electronic Publishing Industry Coalition (EPIC); past member Oklahoma Writer’s Federation, Inc. Ms. Douglas served as OKRWA 2016 President and 2015 President-Elect.
