Now have we loft Original-righteoufnefs? are we despoiled of our primitive Stock are our invalu able Souls in bazard of Perdition and fhall we do nothing to gain a recovery of our vaft Dammages? alas! if we are thus fo miferably unconcerned, our Folly and Ignorance makes it fo, not knowing that we are poor and wretched; the trembling Jaylour Was other wife affected, when he cryed out, what fball I do to be saved? Propofition 3. Ted Contrivance manifefted, whereby broken-Merchants may be fet up again: Ezra 10. 2. Yet now there is hope in Ifrael concerning this thing: Hof. 13, 9, Thou haft defroyed thy felf but in Me is thy help: It's not all loft that'sin hazard, many a weather-beaten-Ship has come fafe a fhore, and hath out reeked and fet to Sea again; many a broken Merchant bath fet up again, & hath not only flourished in Trade, but become Rich and Wealthy: For clearing this Propofition that a broken Mers chant may recover, we offer the following Demons Arations.

Here is a divine Device and blef

1. Demon, Our Creditor is content to compone &. to come into treating terms with us; this day is an offended God and a flighted Chritt calling to you, Dyvor finners! whatever be your Debts, what

ever Counts are betwixt you and Me, only come unto Me, and if ye be owing a hundred Talents, I will not fay fet down fifty and pay the reft, but O Sinner, fet down, able to pay nothing, and thoufhalt pay nothing, only fuck a free Discharge, and a full Dife charge thou shalt get, if thou art but in good-carneft to take, I am in good earneft to give: It is a won derfull paffage we have Ifa. 1. 18, to this purpofe, fully exprellive of the tranfcendent condefcendency of God Almighty, that He is content to parley and reafon with His Creatures, as one Man with ano ther. Come now faith the Lord and let us reafon tege ther, though your fins be as fearlet, they shall be as vebité as fnow &c, and Ifa 43.25. leven 1 am He that blots teth out thy tranfgressions for Mine own Sake &c. i, e, I will Cancell and Discharge all thy Debts,

2. Demon There may be a Cautioner found whom the Creditor will accept, and be well fatisfied with as being fufficiently foluendo, and one of His own propoling and pitching upon, & confequently who cannot be refufed: Ha, 42 1. 2. B bold Mine Eka in whom My Soul delighietbees I will give H m for a Covenant of the People Sc. Ifa.55.3.4 and Heb.7.11 23. Jesus was made a Surety of a better Teftament

3. Demon. This our fufficient Cautioner will not only become Surety for us; but, knowing we are Bankrupt Dyvers, will actually pay all our Debts, & fatisfie our Creditor to the full; to wit by the invas luable price of His precious Blood for our Redemp tion yea further not only by Juftification will He obtain the Discharge of bygone Debts, for mifpen Ming the primitive Stock put in our band, but by Sang

Bification, enduing us with the manifold Graces af His Spirit) He will put a New Stock in our band, whereby we may manage a spiritual Trade that will enrich us for ever, but more of this afterward,

4. Demon. We may get this recovered Stock bet ter fecured than the Primitive: the fir Adam had the management & keeping of our firft Stock, who was in bazard of lofing it, and did actually deftroy it, but our fecond recruited Stock is confirmed in the hand of a Mediator, the fecond Adam, Chrift Jefus, ftands engaged to Enfure it unto us for ever, lo that whatever Storms or Tempefts, whatever Efforts of Pirats or Robbers, whatever Dangers or Difficulties may occurr there is no fear: hence the Apofle Paul with a Plerophorie of Faith and Hope, confidently declares the firm perfwafion he had of the unquestionable enforance of his Stock, which he had committed to Chrifts Cuftody, 2 Tim, I, 12. I know whom I have believed (or entrusted with my all) and I am persuaded, that He is able to keep that which I bave committed unto Him againft that day : i, e. 0 preferve continually, and to be forthcoming to me for my whole Stock and Treasure, which I have lepofited in His Hand,

1. Infer, TS there a blessed Device fallen upon, for

leeming loft Sinners, O let us admire & adore

Stupen luous Cond Seen lency, and unfearchable Wife dom of God who hath invented and revealed this happy Contrivance; Let us alfo magnifie the liberal. Goodness of our Lord Jefus Chri, who hath fet up Shop in our Streets, and expofeth to Sale His hea venly rich Wares among us, that we may become Rich and Happy: He hath not dealt fo beneficially with every Nation, neither bath every People been vifited with fuch a peculiar Priviledge. O Sirs, may we not fay, the Lines have fallen to us in pleafent Pla ces, that our Lot is caft to be born and bred in this fpot of Gods World where Chrift is revealed.& the Treafures of Heaven are proffered to us daily; let Turks and Pagans glory in poffeffing the Fat, the Pleasures and Riches of the Earth, these are but Grumbi caft to the Digs, we have more ground of true Glorying and Rejoicing, for to us is given the Childrens Portion, and far better Provifion, and that: even to us the most unwerthy of the Nations; but herein is fulfilled the Scripture that God is kind to the unthankfull and the evil, Luke 6.35. and that He gives His Gifts even to the Rebellious Pfalms 68, 18,

2. Infer Is there a bleffed Device contrived and revealed for the Recovery of loft Sinners, let us re peat at the heart, that we have neglected fo good a Bargain fo long, this is both our Fault and Folly:O how can you find in your hearts, if we may fay fo,to grieve the Heart of God, for nothing can be more provoking to Him,than to defpife the Riches of His Grace & Wifdom, in neglecting fo great a Salvati on as He hath projected and prepared for us; but more of this afterwards,

3. Infer. Is there a Dieffed Device fallen upon for the Recovery of lott Sinners, Olet us carefully ap ply oar felves to improve the prefent Seafon of Bargaiming with Christ, and confequently, let us forth with comply with Gods Defign in this Device; Op portunity is a thing vainable, but variable; therefore it were our Wifdom prefently to come & buy while it is called to day, we know not what a day may bring forth, we know not but ere to morrow Chrift may pack up and be gone; mind what the Apostle fays, 2 Cor. 6. 2. Behold now is the accepted time, bebold now is the day of salvation; and James fpeaketh plainly to our purpose and that in the Merchants Terms of Art, Chap. 4, 13, 14, Go to now ye that say, to day or to marrow, we will go into fuch a City, end continue there a year and buy and fell, and get gain, whereas je know not what shall be on to morrow, for what is your life, it is even a vapour that appears eth for a little time, and th、n panisheth away; many a man hath loft a good Bargain, by milling a Tyde, or fitting their time of a fair Wind.

4. Infer, Isthere a bleffed Device for the Recovery of loft Sinners, O bow inexcusable & wretch ed are they who get no good of this Device?

Chrißians ftep out of their way and perifa under the Sunshine of the Gospel, they have themselves to blame, who not only labour under culpable nefci ence, but affected wilfull ignorance, Pfal. $ 2. 5. they know not, neither will they underfland, they walk on in darkness: O maft unworthy Sinners, the blood of your Souls will ly at your own door, God will be clear when be judgeth and condemneth you to per
