VIII. And whereas the Exchequer Bills which were made forth in pursuance of the faid Act of the fifth Year of Her Majefty's Reign, for Her Majefty's Supply, did and do amount to the faid full Sum of Fifteen hundred thoufand Pounds, and the quarterly Bills authorized to be made forth in pursuance of the fame Act, for the faid Rate of Four Pounds ten Shillings per Centum per Annum, and the Allowance thereupon, until and for the Quarter ended at Lady Day One thousand leven hundred and ◄ nine inclufive, do amount to the further Sum of One hundred twenty-three thousand three hundred thirty-feven Pounds eighteen Shillings and one Penny Halfpenny; in both, to One million fix hundred twenty-three thoufand three hundred thirtyfeven Pounds eighteen Shillings and One Penny Halfpenny, as by a Certificate figned by the Auditor of the Receipt of Her • Majefty's Exchequer, bearing Date the first Day of April One thoufand feven hundred and nine doth appear; and the Interest ⚫ of the faid Sum of One million fix hundred twenty-three thousand three hundred thirty-feven Pounds eighteen Shillings and one Penny Halfpenny, after the Rate of Six Pounds fer Centum per Annum for Six Quarters, to be reckoned from Lady Day One thousand feven hundred and nine to Michaelmas One thoufand feven hundred and ten, being computed and made principal at the End of each Quarter doth amount to One hundred fifty-one • thousand fix hundred eighty-nine Pounds nineteen Shillings and nine Pence more; and being added to the Sum laft mentioned, the whole will amount to the Sum of One million feven hundred ferenty-five thousand twenty-feven Pounds feventeen Shillings ten Pence Halfpenny, for which an Annuity or yearly Fund, computed after the Rate of fix Pounds per Centum per Annum, doth amount to One hundred and fix thoufand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence per Annum : Now, for the Encouragement of the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England, by this and the faid former Acts established, as aforefaid, to pay off, difcharge, and cancel all the Exchequer Bills which have been iffued, or were authorized to be issued by the faid Act of the fifth Year of Her Majefty's Reign, as aforefaid; and to the End the faid Governor and Company, and their Succeffors, may have a competent Recompence and Confideration for fo doing, and for their faid Allowance after the Rate of Four Pounds ten Shillings per Centum per Annum, and for all their Demands relating thereunto, according to the true meaning of this Act; We your Majefty's faid dutiful and loyal Subjects, the faid Commons of Great Britain in Parliament affembled, do humbly pray that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel which shall be in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred

and enjoy, and be entitled by virtue of this Act, to have, receive,
and enjoy one Annuity or yearly Sum of One hundred and fix
thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five
Pence, of lawful Money of Great Britain, which fhall be, and is
hereby charged upon, and fhall be paid and payable from Time
to Time in the first Place, and with Preference to all other Payments
whatsoever, out of the faid Duties on Houfes granted or continued
unto Her Majefty, Her Heirs and Succeffors, for ever, by the
faid Act of the Fifth Year of Her Majefty's Reign which is to
take Effect from the faid laft Day of July One thousand seven
hundred and ten, as aforefaid, and upon and out of fuch Remains
and Arrears of House-money as by the Act laft-mentioned were
intended to be charged with the Payment of the faid Allowance of
Four Pounds ten Shillings per Centum per Annum, in cafe that Al-
lowance had continued; the faid Annuity of One hundred and fix
thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five
Pence per Annum, to be paid and payable at the Four most usual
Feafts or Days of Payment in the Year; That is to fay, the Feafts
of the Birth of our Lord Christ, the Annunciation of the bleffed
Virgin Mary, the Nativity of Saint John Baptift, and Saint
Michael the Archangel, by even and equal Portions; the First
quarterly Payment thereof to be made at the Feaft of the Birth of
our Lord Chrift which fhall be in the Year of our Lord One thou-
fand seven hundred and ten; and that the faid Annuity or yearly
Sum of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds
thirteen Shillings and five Pence, and every Part thereof, fhall be
free from all Taxes, Charges and Impofitions whatsoever.

for Payment.

IX. And for the better and more regular Payment of the faid Annuity of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence, to the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England, and their Succeffors for ever, (fubject as aforefaid) an Order or Orders fhall be tigned by the Treasurer and Under Treafurer of the Exchequer, or any Three or more of the Commiffioners of the Treasury for the Time being, and after the figning thereof, the fame shall be firm, good, valid, and effectual in the Law, according to the Purport and true Meaning thereof, and of this Act, and fhall not be determinable by or upon the Deaths or Removal of any Treasurer or Under Treasurer of the Exchequer, or any Commiffioner or Commiffioners of the Treafury, or by or upon the Determination of the Power, Office, or Offices of them, or any of them; nor fhall any Not revocable. Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain, Treafurer of the Exchequer, or any Commiffioners of the Treasury now or for the Time being, have Power to revoke, countermand, and make void fuch Order fo figned, as aforefaid.

X. And for the more speedy Payment of the faid Annuity or yearly Sum of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence, to the said Governor and Company as aforefaid; it is hereby declared and enacted, That

weekly or otherwife, as the Money of the faid Duties fhall from Time to Time be brought into the Exchequer for Payment of the faid Annuity of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence, the fame fhall and may be iffued upon the faid Order or Orders for or towards the difcharging of the faid Annuity, to grow due for and at the End of the Quarter in which fuch Payments fhall be made, fo as fuch weekly or other Payments do not exceed the Sum of the quarterly Payment which should grow due for or at the End of every fuch Quarter refpectively.

XI. And be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England and their Succeffors, at any Time or Times, by Writing under their Common Seal, to affign the faid Annuity or Yearly Sum of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence, or any Part thereof, or any Interest therein, to any Perfon or Perfons whatsoever, and fo toties quoties, and no fuch Affignment fhall be revocable, fo as an Entry or Memorandum thereof be made in the Books to be kept for that Purpose in the faid Office of the Auditor of the Receipt.

XII. And it is hereby further enacted, That the faid Annuity fonal Eftare, &c. of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence per Annum, and every Part thereof, fhall be adjudged to be a perfonal and not a real Estate, and fhall not be liable to any Foreign Attachment; any Law or Custom to the contrary notwithstanding.

Duty on Houfes conti ued for difcharging the Annuities.

XIII. And for the better fecuring the faid Annuity of One hundred and fix thoufand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence per Annum, unto the faid Governor and Company of the Eank of England, by this and the faid former Acts eftablished, as aforefaid; it is hereby enacted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That fuch Duties on Houfes, and fuch Remains and Arrears of Houfe-money, as by the faid Act of the fifth Year of her Majefty's Reign were charged with the said Allowance of four Pounds ten Shillings per Centum per Annum, fhall continue and be payable to her Majefty, her Heirs and Succeffors, for fatisfying and difcharging the faid Annuity of One hundred and fix thousand five hundred and one Pounds thirteen Shillings and five Pence per Annum, and shall be raised, levied, received, iffued, accounted for, appropriated, and applied thereunto, under the fame Rules, Directions, Penalties, Forfeitures, and Disabilities, as are prescribed by the faid Act of the fifth Year of her Majefty's Reign, touching the railing, levying, collecting, iffuing, appropriating, applying, and accounting for the fame, neverthelefs freed and discharged of and from the Provifo or Condition of Redemp tion, which was soontained in the faid Act of the fifth Year of her Majefty's Reign, and all other Provifoes and Conditions of Redemption whatsoever (the Provifo or Condition hereafter in this Act contained for redeeming the faid Duties on Houfes, and the faid Annuity payable out of the fame only excepted); the faid Act of the fifth Year of her Majefty's Reign, or any Thing therein contained to the contrary notwithft nding. XV. • XXII. And for the Encouragement of the faid Governor ⚫ and Company of the Bank of England, by or in pursuance of this and the faid former Acts conftituted as aforelaid, and their Succeffors, to undertake the Circulation not only of the faid Bills, not exceeding Two millions five hundred thousand Pounds, to be iffued for Her Majefty's Supply as aforefaid, but also of the Quarterly Bills to be made forth in fuch Manner and Form · as are hereinafter mentioned; and to the End a fufficient Fund may be fettled, and Provision made, as well for the Payment of the Intereft after the Rate of Two-pence ter Cenium per Diem, to be born upon all the Bills to be issued in pursuance of this Act, and the Premium or Allowance, after the Rate of Three Pounds per Centum per Annum, which the faid Governor and Company, and their Succeffors, are to receive for circulating the fame in the Manner and Form hereinafter expreffed, until all the faid Bills to be iffued in pursuance of this Act fhall be paid off and cancelled; and for establishing a fufficient Fund ⚫ for paying off and cancelling all the Exchequer Bills to be iffued forth in pursuance of this Act in a reasonable Time;' We Your Majefty's faid dutiful and loyal Subjects the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament affembled, do further give and grant unto Your Majefty the feveral Subfidies, Duties, Impofitions, and Sums of Money hereinafter mentioned; and do most humbly befeech Your Majefty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, in Manner following, that is to fay, Whereas by an Act made in the Sixth Year of Her Majefty's Reign, for continuing (amongst other Things) the Duties called the Twothird Subfidies of Tonnage and Poundage, it was enacted, That (over and above the Subfidies and other Payments therein • mentioned) there should be paid to Her Majefty One other Subfidy called Tonnage, for and upon all Wines which from and after the Seventh Day of March One thoufand feven hundred and eight, at any Time or Times within or during the Space of Three Years from thence next or immediately enfuing, fhould ⚫ be imported or brought into Great Britain, that is to fay, Twothird Parts of fuch or the like feveral and respective Duties as by an Act of the Ninth Year of the Reign of His faid late Majesty King William the Third, were granted to His Majefty during his Life, and by an Act of the First Year of Her Ma jefty's Reign, are continued and payable during Her Majefty's Life, for and upon any Kind of Wine or Wines refpectively; ⚫ and One other Subfidy called Poundage, of all Manner of Goods and Merchandizes that fhould be imported or brought into • Great Britain, at any Time or Times from and after the faid Seventh Day of March One thousand seven hundred and eight, ⚫ within or during the faid Term of Three Years, by way of Mer chandize, that is to fay, Two-third Parts of fuch or the like feveral and refpective Duties as by the faid Act of the Ninth • Year of His faid late Majefty's Reign were granted, and by the faid Act of the First Year of Her Majefty's Reign continued, and payable for and upon the fame Goods and Merchandizes re• fpectively
