Page 168 - Either ,multiply the numerator, or divide the denominator. To divide a fraction by a whole number, — Either divide the numerator, or multiply the denominator. When a number is multiplied by 1 , the product is equal to the multiplicand. Therefore, when a number is multiplied by a fraction, which is less than 1, the product must be less than the multiplicand. To multiply a whole number by a fraction, — Multiply by the numerator, and divide by the denominator.
