About the author (2003)

Jo McDonough is Senior Lecturer in ELT in the Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. She is the author of ESP in Perspective (1984) and Research Methods for English Language Teachers (with Steven McDonough, 1997).

Christopher Shaw is Senior Teaching Fellow in the English Language Teaching Centre at the University of Essex. His research interests include teaching English for academic purposes.
