About the author (2000)

Howard Glennerster has been an active participant in the social policy process and a commentator on it since the early 1960s, when he joined the Labour Party Research Department. He is now Professor of Social Administration at the London School of Economics, Chairman of the Suntory Toyota International Centre for Economics and Related Disciplines, and Co-Director of the Welfare State Programme. He is the author of many books on social policy including Implementing The New Community Care (with Jane Lewis, 1996).
