Rev. xvi. 15. Behold I come as a thief: Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, left he walk naked, and they see his shame.
Prov. xxii. 5. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward : He that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. .
Prov, xxviii. 14. Happy is the man that feareth alway; but he that hardeneth his heart, shall fall into mischief.
XVII. To them that keep GooD COMPANY.
Prov. xiii. 20. He that walketh with wife men, shall be wife : But a companion of fools shall be de Atroyed.
Prov. xviii. 17. Iron sharpeneth iron : fo a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Pf. i. 1. Blessed is the man that Avoid evil Company. walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor ftandeth in the way of finners, nor fitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Prov. ix. 6. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

XVIII. To them that Perform their Oaths.
Ps. xv. 1. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle ? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill ?
Ver. 4. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
Ps. xxiv. 4. He who hath not lift up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Ver. 5. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the GOD of his falvation.
XIX. To the KEEPING of the SABBATH.
Exod. xx. 11. The LORD blessed the Sabbath. day, and hallowed it. . If. lvi. 2. Blessed is the man that doth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it ; that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Ver. 6. The fons of the stranger that join them. selves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants ; every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant : - Ver. 7. Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer ; their burnt-offerings and their facrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar : For mine house shall be called a house of prayer unto all people.
IS. lviii. 13. If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable, and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words ;
Ver. 14. Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father : For the mouth of the LORD hath fpoken it.
Ezek. xx. 20. Hallow my fabbaths, and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your GOD. :
CH A P. II.
PROMISES TO DUTIES OF THE SECOND TABLE.
I. TO OBEDIENCE to PARENTS. L PH. vi. 1. Children, obey your parents in the E LORD ; for this is right.
Ver. 2. Honour thy father and thy mother (which is the first commandment, with promise.)
Ver. 3. That it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the earth.
Col. iii. 20. Children, obey your parents in all things : for this is well pleasing unto the LORD.
i Tim. v. 4. But if any widow have children, or nephews, [grand children] let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents ; for that is good and acceptable before GOD.
Prov. i. 8. My son, hear the instruction of thy father; and forsake not the law of thy mother.
Ver. 9. For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
Prov. vi. 20. My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother.
Ver. 21. Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
Ver. 22. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee ; and when thou wakeit, it shall talk with thee.
Jer. xxxv. 18. Thus faith the LORD of hosts, the GOD of Israel, because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he hath commanded you :
Ver. 19. Therefore thus faith the LORD of hosts,
the GOD of Israel, Jonadab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.
Deut. xi. 19. And ye shall teach them your chil. dren, speaking of them when thou fittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way ; when thou lieft down and when thou riseft up.
Ver. 20. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates :
Ver. 21. That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven, upon the earth. .
Gen. xviii. 19. For I know him [Abraham] that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do. justice and judgment, that the LORD may bring up. on Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Prov. xxii. 6. Train up a child in the way he fhould go ; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Prov. xxi. 15. Foolishness is To Correcting of bound in the heart of a child ; but Children. the rod of correction shall drive it
far from him. Prov. xxiii. 13. Withhold not correction from the child ; for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Ver. 14. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and Thalt deliver his foul from hell.
Prov. xxix. 15. The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself, bringeth his mother to lhame.
Ver. 17. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest : yea, he shall give delight unto thy soula
III. To a Good Wife.
Prov. xi. 16. A gracious woman retaineth honour, and a strong man riches.'
Prov. xii. 4. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband ; but she that maketh ashamed, is as rottenness in his bones.
Prov. xiv. 1. Every wise woman buildeth her house.
Prov. xxxi. 10. Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Ver. 25. Strength and honour are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Ver. 28. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Ver. 30. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain : but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Ver. 31. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
IV. To FAITHFUL SERVANTS. Prov. xvii. 2. A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame ; and shall have a part of the inheritance among the brethren.
Prov. xiv. 35. The king's favour is toward a wise servant.
Prov. xxvii. 18. Whofo keepeth the fig-tree, shall eat the fruit thereof ; So he that waiteth on his mal ter, shall be honoured.
Eph. vi. 5. Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ : Ver. 6. Not with eye service, as men-pleasers ; but
