I tried to like this book. I gave up in 20 pages first time around, and trudged along to 100 second time, before deciding to not force myself to waste any more time. It's not a bad book, and ... Read full review

I read it in college. I hated the philosophy parts, but the motorcycle travel parts were my thing for sure. Maybe it would be better on a read when I'm a bit older now, but I doubt I'll go back to it. Read full review

Finished my third reading tonight, the last book I'll complete in 2018. Still excellent. My sense of overall doom is heightened with this reread by parenthood. Man, wow. Some books will have you ... Read full review

Love it and am re-reading it once again!

This book is amazing. When I first read it I was at the prime age to have my mind blown and Pirsig did so with grace and style. The only problem: the first 3 chapters do me in every single time I go to read it. It took me three attempts before I could press through them and get into the meat inside; this might be a stylistic choice, a sort of clearing of the mind before the story is told, but it's pretty brutal on the first pass. If you can plow through those, though, and put up with a few dry spells here or there as it goes along, you are in for a philosophical treat the likes of which I yet to meet.

...a life changing book...basically an analytically complete textbook...The two books that Pirsig has written are complete and do not need to have anything more added, and I believe that is the reason he has not written any more books since they ate so complete!
...a MUST read!

This is an awesome book. I could barely get through it 15 years ago but I was finally ready for it and enjoyed every page. I can't wait to buy my motorcycle and hit the road on first Zen trip. Not sure what i will do about the maintenance part.

I had high hopes for this book. And parts of it were quite interesting and thought-provoking. But half way through it just lost me... Read full review
