6 In passing through the vale of death
A welcome they shall find,
And at the vital spark's last breath

Meet Christ their welcome friend. 7 Then let us Christians onward go Till Zion's gates appear,

And through our pilgrimage below
To Jesus Christ draw near.

8 Give ear, Emanuel, to us

When we put up our prayer,
To thee for everlasting bliss
With all thine host to share.
9 For one day in thy courts excel
A thousand in the world,

And rather in thy courts I'd dwell
Than in sin and state hurl'd.

10 Our sun and shield is God's dear Son, To guide us unto him;

The Father's pleasure he has done,
And died us to redeem.

11 O God of heaven's highest host,
We hope to praise thee more,
When faith and hope in love are blest,
With pleasure in full store.

12 Where saints and martyrs truly blest Like stars celestial shine,

And reign in heaven with Jesus Christ,
And share his love divine.

PSALM LXXXV.

1 FAVOURABLE our God has been
To our beloved isle,

Our faithful shepherd gathers in
His people from exile.

2 Through Jesus' merits we are saved,
And in his blood wash'd clean,
Who suffer'd on the cross, and died
To cancel all our sin.

3 O! then, let us to him draw nigh,
Who is our advocate,

And turn our hearts to him on high,
Who dwell in high estate.

4 Revive our soul with health and strength, And consolation send;

Before that we descend to death

Sweet mercy to us lend.

5 Thy gracious light unto us show,
And promises of old;

The riches of thy grace bestow,
More precious they than gold.

6 For God will no good thing withhold
From them that upright live;
Unmingled joys and manifold
In heaven are thine to give."

7 Repeated thanks to him is due From all of mortal state, Delightful promises in view

Which will our souls elate.

8 Who can compared be with our God Amongst the gods?-not one; Effulgence dwells in his abode

With his beloved Son.

9 To us, O Lord, thy mercy show,
And sweet salvation give;

To thee shall every knee bow low,
And to thy glory live.

10 Yes; what is good the Lord on high Will still help to increase,

His steps in paths of justice lie,
Companions meet for

grace.

11 Before his footstool uprightness
Shall ever march along,

With constancy and happiness,
Where saints and angels throng.

PSALM LXXXVI.

1 O LORD, assist the destitute
That in affliction are;

If they in thee their trust do put,
O foster them with care.

2 O Lord, preserve the precious soul
Who thy great name adores;
Let thy blest providence control
O'er all their basket-stores.

3 Daily the mourning soul refresh,
Who confidence does put
In thee, the God of living flesh,-
Their drooping souls recruit.
4 The Lord alone is only good,
None else is good but he;

He clothes the naked, and gives food
To all that needy be;

5" In mercy rich to all that ask" Forgiveness at his throne;

Prayer and praise is the sweetest task Perform'd to God alone.

love burn,

6 Then let the flame of pure
And in the Lord rejoice;
Nor more to foolishness return,
But raise a grateful voice.
7 All nations will yet bow to him,
And homage to him pay;

The Mediator will redeem

Souls close with him that stay.
8 Rejoice thy servant's soul, O Lord,
For my soul I lift to thee;
That I thy goodness may record,
O! mercy show to me.

9 Hear my request and feeble voice,
O Lord, to it attend;

Cause me from trouble to rejoice,
And consolation send.

10" That I thy name may glorify,
And still advance thy fame,
And in glad songs thee magnify,
Who ever art the same."
11 Because the Lord, exceeding great,
Hath powerful wonders done,
Him reverence and venerate
All ye the sons of men.

12 Teach me to walk with thee, my God, Like unto Abraham;

Be called the friend of Christ the Lord,
And of the great I Am.

13 Unite my soul, O Lord, with thee,
And make my soul sincere ;
Imprint thy love and fear in me,
That I in faith draw near.

14 Ascribe glory to God always
With all thy heart and soul;
Eternal trophies to him raise,
Whose providence doth rule

15 His majesty it does excel
The sons of men by far;
Greatness and glory ever dwell
Where grace and splendour are.
