Alan Richardsonwas Professor of Christian Theology at the University of Nottingham in England. He was Dean of York from 1964 until his death in 1975.

John Bowdenis a former editor and managing director of SCM Press. He is the author of several books and articles and has translated numerous religious books from German, French and Dutch.
