A singularly attractive property has just come into the market consisting of a detached country house within 11 miles of Hyde Park Corner. In addition to a long leasehold, containing a commodious house and a large garden, there is an extensive freehold which includes an absolutely first-class hard lawn tennis court with full run-back and completely sheltered-also ample garage.

PROPER GOOSE

by Berliner," who has recently lived and
travelled in Germany, is a striking article which
shows that the country is in an excellent state:
fields well tilled, industries prospering, public
services functioning, inhabitants fully and profit-
ably employed, and enjoying a standard of
life and comforts denied to our own people.

CHAPTERS FROM TURF HISTORY

By NEWMARKET.

HIS illustrated volume recalls some of the most interesting events in Racing Literature. It reviews the repeated endeavours by five Prime Ministers of England to win the Chief Prizes of the Turf. The author describes the famous match between Voltigeur and the Flying Dutchman; Danebury and the racing career of Lord George Bentinck; the romantic life of Mr. John Gully, prizefighter, racehorse owner and Member of Parliament; Disraeli's contributions to the history of the Turf; the astounding fraud of the Derby of 1844 and the Trial of the dispute before Baron Alderson in Westminster Hall. The volume concludes with some reflections upon the problems of Turf government in more recent days.
