This is a difficult source to reason with for genealogical purposes when it comes to Colin Campbell. One Colin Campbell is the brother to Fair John Campbell, and also to brother George Campbell, but there is also a son of Fair John Campbell named Colin. When it mentions the deaths of Colin Campbell, the son of Fair John Campbell the incompetent due to mental illness, it states that he predeceases his father due to Plague and dies in Irvine and that his father the Fair John Campbell dies in June of the same year of 1654. Yet, it contradicts itself and states that the Sir John Campbell, the grandfather died around the same time, when earlier it states that Sir John Campbell was assassinated in 1591.I am not sure what to rely on in this recorded. Do I just discount the final reference to Sir John Dying in 1654, and rely on the 1591 date? That's what I think, but sometimes when you have genealogical commentary, you start to see the discrepancies, and are unsure on the rest of the records reliability.
