About the author (2011)

Sir Steve Redgrave is a genuine sporting icon. He is the only athlete to have won gold medals in five consecutive Olympic Games in an endurance event. He has received numerous high-profile accolades and in 2000 was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year and earned the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award. Sir Steve is heavily involved in a number of commercial and charitable initiatives, including the Steve Redgrave Fund, which helps improve and enhance the quality of young people's lives. He was a founding member of the successful London 2012 bid. He was Knighted in 2001.
