Although the subject matter is a difficult one to swallow as a child born into a generation which has not suffered much, it is necessary. The author gives his raw account of a most difficult time and place to be alive in. These events need to be told and retold because its horrors are very real. Knowledge of our past properly empowers us to protect our future.

I'm not sure what to write about a book on Auschwitz: giving it four stars, it doesn't mean it's really good, becaue, I think, a memoir written about the events of it, simple cannot be 'good'. No ... Read full review

While reading this book, my mind subconsciously switched this to a fictional book, as whenever I reminded myself that this was a recollection of real events with real people, I shuddered at the idea ... Read full review

I recommend skipping the Forward as it is offensive, insensitive, uses generalizations, and is written without regard to the most basic components of human nature- the power of fear and the need to protect oneself and their loved ones. Read full review

I'm not sure what I can say about this book. I gave it 4 stars because it certainly deserved it, not because the writing was spectacular or anything like that, but simply because it's one of those ... Read full review

The author seems to gloss over some of his willing culpability, while necessary for survival in the circumstances, he doesn't reveal much of his personal internal struggle. I also wish his book ... Read full review

The cover made me slightly leery. It screams sensationalist and I almost didn't read it until I looked it up and found that this book is an actual first-hand account from a Holocaust survivor forced ... Read full review
