William de Roos, who had married Maud de Vaux, in 1311. The churches of Pentney, Thorston, West Bilney, Shanbourn, and Refham alias Whitwell, were appropriated also. The presentation of the vicar of Sharnbourn, Whitwell, and Thorston, in Norfolk, was also in this Priory, with the patronage of St. Mary's church of Warham. The rectories of Abington Parva, in Cambridgeshire, and of Chedeston, in Suffolk, were likewise in this Priory, and appropriated.

The patronage of this House descended by marriage from the Vaux's to Sir William Nereford.b

ROBERT DE WATERVILLE.

JOHN WOODBRIGGS, alias HAWES, occurs in the time of Henry the VIIIth.

ROBERT CODDE, or JODDE, occurs in 1526. He was the last Prior, and with Richard Lynne and twelve other canons, subscribed to the King's supremacy Sept. 9th, 1534. They afterwards surrendered their Priory to the King, and had pensions for life. In the Compendium Compertorum the last Prior of this House is charged as having had criminal conversation with the Prioress of Marham, a circumstance not very consistent with the subsequent grant of a pension.

The yearly Revenues of this House in the 26th of Henry the VIIIth. amounted in the clear to 170l. 4s. 94d.; in the gross, including the Cell of Wirmegay, to 215l. 18s. 8d.c

The Scite was granted in the 30th Hen. VIII. to Thomas Mildmay, auditor of the Exchequer.

The present possessors are John Lloyd, esq., lord of the Priory-manor, and Mr. Gamaliel Carter, owner of the Scite.d

Taylor, in his Index Monasticus, gives the following as the ARMS of this House, from Edmondson: Gu. three covered Baskets Or.

the possession of the Duke of Rutland, at Belvoir Castle. Dugdale quotes a REGISTER of this House, as in

Tanner's References to Records, with some other Memoranda will be found below.e

The SEAL of this House bore the figure of St. Mary Magdalene, with this Inscription, SIGILLVM. SCE. MARIE.
