O thou most dear,-before thy feet
I strew these flow'rets fair and sweet;
These blossoms, latest from the tree
Of Britain's gold-branch'd poesy,
Now lie where all the virtues meet.

Nor will they wither: neither heat
Nor chill of passing Time can cheat
The world of their rare fragrancy,
O thou most dear.

Nor will Time banish Love, or greet.
Thy charms with shadow of defeat :

They bud and bloom, and still with me

Their scent and loveliness will be;

Yes, Love will stay, though Time be fleet,

O thou most dear.
