In the year 1513, Henry personally undertook another invasion Of France. Attended by the Duke Of Buckingham, and a great concourse of nobility and gentry, he landed at Calais on the 3oth of June, and proceeded into the Netherlands. Here he was quickly joined by the Emperor with some German and Flemish soldiers. Maximilian enlisted under the English standard, wore the Cross Of St. George, and received the pay of a hundred crowns a day, as one of Henry's subjects and captains.
