From all blindness of heart, and ftupid Ignorance, [from pride] and high Conceit of our felves, [from Main-glogy] and feeking applause from others, [and] from [hypocrtly or feigned fhews of Piety: As alfo from all fecret Sins against our Neigbbours, [from Enby at their Prosperity,[Hatred] against their Persons, Land Malice] or purposes of revenge,[and] finally from Call Ancharitableness] and want of Compaffion toward's thofe in Mifery.

From the guilt and power, the mischief and the punishment of all,and every one of thefe GoodLo20,1 we humbly beseech thee to [oeliver us.)

S.VIII.Be pleafed alfo to deliver us from all notorious Sins in our Lives and Actions,[From Fornication Jand filthyLuft,Cand all other heinous and hardening Crimes, which are usually in their event damning and [Deadly Sins] to those which do commit them; as alfo [from all] thofe actual Wickedneffes, to which we are tempted by our Spiritual Enemies:From being Oppreffors,or Covetous through[th: decetts of the old, gluttons or drunkards through the deceits of [the flesh,] blafphemous and Atheistical through the deceits of [the Devil.] From the guilt and power, the mischief and the punishment of all,and every one of thefel GoodLo20,] we humbly beseech thee to [deliver us.]

S.IX. Be pleafed alfo to deliver us from all those temporal and fpiritual Judgments, which thefe Sius do juftly deferve, from the terrour of [Lightning] and Thunder, And the fury of ftorms Land Tempest] in the Air above us: [from] the fad defolations of a devouring (Plagueland raging [Pestilencr] round about us: From the extreme mifery of a grievous dearth, [and famine] in our Land: [FromJall the barbarous cruelties of a bloody [battel] in War, and of Maffacres Land murDerlin times of Peace,[and from the evil and uncertain

event of an untimely,unprepared and [fudden Death.] From all and every one of thefe [Good Lozo] we humbly befeech thee to [deliver as] and all thy People.

S.X. Be pleafed alfo to deliver us from thofe Judgments, whereof thou permitteft evil Men to be thy Executioners on a Sinful Nation, [From all] the violences. of a giddy Multitude, ftirred up to[edition,] from the defperate Defigns of Traitors,their Plots and [Patby Conspiracy,] and from the dreadful Tragedies of another Civil War [and Rebellion] against our lawful Soveraign, to the Subverfion of the State: As alfo [trom all the pernicious effects of publishing [falle Dodrine,] of fpreading and maintaining [Derely] in matters of Faith, and of upholding Separation, Faction [and Schifm] in matters of Discipline, to the endangering of the Church: And laftly from fpiritual Judgments,the worst of all Evils, even [from hareness of heart,] and being infenfible of our Sin, or our punishment, [and] from fuch continued Customs of living wickedly,as might bring us to an Atheistical and open [Contempt of the Holy Wozd and Cemmandment.

From all and every one of thefe (Good Lo20] we humbly beseech thee to [deliver us] and all thy People.

S.XI. And now how fhall we engage thee, deareft Jeus,to deliver us from all thefe dreadful Evils of Sin and Punishment? We will importune thee by the Remembrance of all that thou haft done for our Salvation: We entreat thee,fweeteft Saviour, [By the mystery of the Holy Incarnation,] and taking our Nature on thee, [by] the Condefcenfion of [the Holy Pativity] and

humble Birth, [and] by the Obedience of thy painful [Circumetlion;] As alfo we entreat thee [by] the. gracious Defigns of [thy Baptifm,] the excellent Vertue of thy fading, and] the glorious Victory obtained in thy [Temptation.]

By the merit and efficacy of all these, and by the endearing Love fhewed to us therein, [Good Lozd,] we earnestly beseech thee to [deliver us.]

S.XII. And as we beseech thee for Deliverance by all thou didst for us in thy life, fo alfo by all that thou fufferedit at thy Death: We implore thee [y] the amazement sustained in [thine agony, and] the dolours of thy [bloody weat] upon the Approach of thy fufferings, [bg] the pains which thy tender body endured on [thy Crofs,and] the anguish which thy Soul felt in thy bitter [Palton,]we importune thee [by thy precious Death] for the Sins of the whole World, [and by thy [burtal] and continuance under the power of the Grave: We fupplicate thee [by thy glozious Refareedion] from the dead, by the Honour and Trophies of thy Reftauration [and Afcenfion] to Heaven, Land by] all the Truth and Mercy, which was manifefted in [the coming of the Holy Ghost to remain with us, till the end of the World.

By the merit and efficacy of all these, and by thy en_ dearing Love fhewed to us therein, [Good Lo20] we carneftly befeech thee to [deliver us.]

S.XIII.OLord,be thou near at hand to deliver us,in all the changes of our Life, not only [In all time of our tribulation,]when we are troubled with loffes, croffes, fickness and dangers, though we do then exceedingly need thy aid; but also [in all time of our Wealth] and Profperity, because then we are often least fafe, though

we be most fecure; but especially deliver us in the laft and greatest matters of all,[in the hour of Death, that we may not be impatient nor difcouraged, Land in the Day of Indgment,] that we may not be eternally condemned.

In all times,but thefe efpecially, [Good Lozd,] we do earnestly beseech thee to Edeliver us,] and then we shall never need to pray against Evil any more.

S.XIV. And now (though thou heareft not obftinate Sinners, yet)[e] poor penitent [inners,] who have been bewailing our offences[do beseech thee to hear us,] not only in the Deprecations we have made againft Evil, but also in thefe Interceffions for good things in behalf of all Mankind; [and] we heartily defire, [that it may please thee,] who haft united all Chriftian People into one body, the Church, [to Kule] by thy Authority, and govern] by thy Wisdom, this [thy holy Church,] that is univerfal], fo that it may never err from thy Truth,but always keep [in the right way.] Behold, [e] (being Members of this body) do all

S.XV. More particularly, we beseech thee for all Eftates of men in this Church, which thou haft planted in these Nations;and fince thou haft set over us a Prince, already profeffing thy true Religion: We first defire, That it may please thee,] for the fecuring the right Faith among us,[to keep] from all Error, and to confirm Land Brengthen] as well [in the true] and primitive way of [wozhipping thee] obferved in these Churches, as [in Kighteousnels and Holiness of life] agreeable to fo Holy a Profeffion, [thy Servant CHARLES,]who now is by thy happy Providence[out

§. 16. And that his outward Profeffion may flow from a living Principle of inward Piety,we further defire, [That it may please thee,] who haft the Hearts of Kings in thy hand [to rule his heart] by the continual Guidance of thy Holy Spirit; fo that it may be firm Cinthy Faith, by believing thy Truth, constant in thy Lfear,] by reverencing thy Greatness, [and] fervent in thy [Lobe,] by delighting in thy Goodness, [and that] in the Undertaking of any good Works, [he maybe couragious, and [evermoze have] his Hope and [affiance in thee] and thy Affiftance: And in the management thereof, that he may aim at, [and ever feek not his own,but [thine Honour and Glory,] fo fhall he always profper.

S.XVII. Moreover, that thy Church may flourish,and thy People be long happy under him; We are bound to pray for his temporal fafety and profperity, wherefore we delire alfo, That it may please thee,] whofe providence is the fureft guard, and the strongest defence, [to be his defender and keeper] night and day, so that no harm may happen unto him by any fecret defigns; and if any befo wicked openly to fight against thine anointed, do thou ever take his part [giving him the Biaozy over] these, and all other [his Enemies,] so that none may dare to rife up against him.
