S.XVIII.Nor do we only pray for his facred Perfon, but in order to his Comfort, and the benefit of after times, we pray for all his Relations, defiring [That it may please thee] alfo [to blefe] with all fpiritual Graces and temporal felicity [and] to [preferve] from all Evil, His Royal Confort [gar gracions Queen Catherine,1 the illuftrious Prince [JAMES Duke of York and all] other the branches of [the Royal Family,] that from thence may happily fpring many more Defenders of the true Faith from Generation to Generation.

S.XIX. Furthermore, that thy Church may be fpiritually edifyed as well as temporally defended: We pray for all those to whom thou haft committed the Adminiftration of Holy things, defiring [That it may plesCe theel to bless all Degrees of Ecclefiaftical Perfons, even [to tiluminate Jand inftruct the minds of [all tops,] who are to rule thy flock, and alfo of all [Patets and Deacons,who are to feed them, filling them [with true knowledg] of all things neceffary to their Offices, clpecially with the Knowledg[and ander Sanding of thy W020,3 which is the fountain of all Truth and Piety; [and]grant[that both by their Preaching]practically and plainly, [and] by their [Living] holily and righteoufly, [they may let it forth for thy Peoples direction, Land thew it] to them in all it's glories Ciccodingly, as the Excellency of thy Word in it felf,and the Duty of their Function do require.

S.XX. And because the Prince's affairs are conducted by the Advice, and the Peoples Actions by the Examples of those in eminent places, we pray, Chat it may please theel for the good of both Prince and People [to endue the Lords of the Kings moft honourable Privy Council,] who debate of the greatest matters in private, and all they reft of the [Pobility,] who fuftain the weightieft Offices in publick,[with grace,] that they may be Holy in their Lives, and Loyal in their hearts; as alfo with [tfoom and Under Lauding,] that they may be able to manage the Trufts, that are repofed in them; fo fhall they become truly honourable, and a bleffing to the whole Nation.

S.XXI. Likewife, fince no Kingdom can flourish without a due Adminiftration of Justice and Judgment, we alfo pray,[hat it may please thee, who haft given us fuch prudent and excellent Laws, [to blefs] with thy affistance, [and keep] through thy Providence, all [the Magistrates] Judges and other Officers, whom thou haft appointed for the punishment of Evil doers, and the Praise of them that do well,[giving them Grace Jin all Caufes without fear or favour [to execute Justice] upon Offenders,and to vindicate [and maintain truth] and Innocence, remembring the account they muft make to thee the Judge of all the Earth.

S.XXII. Finally, that the felicity of thefe Nations may be completed, we pray not only for the Gover

nours,

nours, but the Subjects alfo, defiring, [That it may please thee], who haft chofen us for thy peculiar Inheritance, [to blefs] with Peace, Plenty and Prosperity,as alfo to preferve [and keep] from all Evil,Mifery and Calamity, the whole Commons, even [all thy People] of thefe Realms, that they may praise thee for thy Mercy, and flourish under thy Protection throughout all Ages.

S.XXIII. We are principally, yet not only, concerned for our own Native Country, wherefore, as Chriftian Charity teacheth, we pray for the welfare of all the world,defiring, [hat it may please thee] in Order to the temporal Profperity of all Mankind,[to give to all Pattons] under Heaven the happinefs of [unity] among themselves, and freedom from Civil broils, and the bleffing of Peace and Conco20] with one another, that fo Nation may not rife against Nation any more, and all the World may enjoy free Commerce,and an Univerfal Tranquillity.

[e] all joyn in this Requeft alfo, and humbly [beseech thee to hear us,] and to answer us in it Good Lord.]

S.24.But because our happiness confifteth not in outward Profperity, as we are Members of thy Church, we pray for the fpiritual welfare of all Chriftian People, defiring,[That it may please thee ]to make us truly happy in inward Grace, and [te gibe t] and all Chriftians Can Heart, Jcontinually enclined [to Lobe] thee for thy Mercy and Goodness, as alfo to fear [and decad thes] for thy Majefty and Greatnefs: So that it may be

our delight to please thee, our care not to offend thee, and our endeavour conftantly [and Diligently to libe after the holy Rules of [thy Commandments,] the doing whereof is the joy of all that love and fear thy Name.

S.XXV. And fince thou haft appointed thy holy Word to feed the Souls of all that profefs thy true Religion, we further pray, bat it may please thee,] the Author of every good gift, [to give unto all thy People, who are within the pale of thy Church,[Entreale] and proficiency in all kinds of 2ace] by the right use of the means, which thou haft inftituted: Make them to bear meekly] the reproofs of [thy

020] with refolutions to amend, and [to receive] the Inftructions of [it with pure affections] and purposes to obey: So that they may all be feen to profit by it, and to bring forth the frutis of the Spirit,] which are Love, Joy, Peace, Long-fuffering, Gentlenefs, Goodnefs, Faith, Meekness and Temperance.Gal.v.22,23. S.XXVI. Nor is our Charity confined to those within the Church only, but we pray alfo for those that are without, defiring, [hat it may please thee, who wouldft have all men to be faved, and to come to the knowledg of the Truth, [to bring into the way of rutb] Infidels and Hereticks, Sectaries and Schifinaticks with all fuch] poor mistaken Souls, [as have erred by following their own fancies [and are decetS

bed] by the cunning of falfe Teachers, That thefe may all come to believe aright, and worship thee together with us, to our comfort and their own Salvation.

S.XXVII. But we must pray more especially for all the faithful Members of thy true Church Militant,who are lifted under Chrift's banner, and engaged in the Spiritual warfare: wherefore we defire, [bat it may pleale ther] to have regard to their feveral Conditions and Neceffities, and [to frengthen luch as do fand] firm in their Principles and Practice: Lord, let them not fall into dangerous Opinions, or notorious Sin: [no] also we pray thee [to comfort]and chear the minds,[and help] the Refolution of all [the weak-hearted,] whofe doubts and fears have almoft difcouraged them, [and] alfo by a true Repentance [to raise up them that fall] into Herefy or any Iniquity through the fuggeftion of the Devil: [and finally, because this Enemy is always troubling us, we beseech thee shortly [to beat down Satan under our feet,] giving us a compleat Victory over him and all his Temptations, that we may be crowned with the Crown of Life.

S.XXVIII. And fince all thy People are liable to, and many of them do actually fuffer by variety of outward · Afflictions, we also pray, Lhat it may please thee,] who art the Father of Mercies, [to fuccour] and deliver, to [help] and relieve, to fupport Land comfort] by thy Providence
