FIG. 1.-Gray silk dress; low square bodice | trimmed with braces and basques, or tabs of the same material as the dress. The pipings and buttons are of gray satin, a darker shade than the silk, and the basques terminate with black guipure. The two tabs at the side descend half way down the skirt. Similar tabs, each fastened at the top with a gray satin rosette, and cut on the cross, are arranged at regular intervals all round the lower half of the skirt. The chemisette is tucked muslin, with Cluny edging round the top.

FIG. 2. The material of the entire costume is black silk. The upper-skirt is ornamented with a plait of black satin, interlaced with a crosscut band of black satin; the under-skirt is bordered with two flounces. The demi-ajuste is ornamented with a plait, which is likewise repeated on the pockets. A sash commencing from each shoulder is tied at the back and falls gracefully on the skirt. Small straw bonnet trimmed with white daisies, and with a black ribbon, on which the pattern is likewise daisies.

EVENING TOILETTE.-A rich dark blue silk | ornamented to correspond. A canezou made of dress, trimmed to simulate a peplum, with black black tulle and black lace insertion is worn gimp and jet beads; the bodice and waistband above the bodice.
