hi my dear programmer in student

I only have some html and css knowledge, and I've taken a MySQL course which I could not make sense on how to use what I learned.
I am an absolute beginner in php and I've attempted to learn from
other books what php is all about, but failed. All previous books make a vast amount of assumptions of what you know, and don't give you any hands on practice, but only php codes that make no sense to a beginner.
I have completed the first 2 chapters and I am amazed. If the rest of the book is as good, I give it 5-star+. Just from the first two chapters I know how to convert a static form to dynamic using php.
PS Here's two individuals (Luke, Laura) who are truly willing to share their knowledge with whoever wishes to learn.
thank you Luke, Laura
Great work!!!

I started programing in VB 6 when I was 10, did very little action script 2.0, and have been messing around with plain HTML for a few years.
I read the first 50 pages and was already building
programs with PHP, HTML and MySQL. It constantly was giving relevant examples that are all working toward finishing a project that the book focused on - "Bob's Auto Parts" website. The examples used for Bobs auto parts can easily be used in any other website and are relevant things like using forms and storing/displaying dynamic data. The first couple chapters are definitely essential for new programmers while the last chapters bring in more advanced ideas and ways to program such as object oriented. It provides the very basics of OOP but doesn't explain how the logic for OOP works.
This book will quickly help you learn how to use php, mysql and html together to put up your own site. If you are looking to have a website up in a few weeks but have little experience with programming, this book is made for you. However, if you are an advance programmer this book is written in such a way that it could be used as a reference book as well. I found myself flipping through it the other day looking for some solutions to more complex problems now that I have been programming for two years. Great Book! Plus its for the latest version of php: PHP5 (written November 16, 2007) (revised November 22, 2009).

I strongly recommend this book to anyone, just starting to learn php or even if they are starting programming, starts right from the beginning

WOW! This book is simply amazing! I love it!
Everything is explained very clearly.
The only problem is for the translation in french (I bought it in french). Everything is not is french (like the project at the end, the translator kept them in english... =( ) and sometimes the translator simply forgot to translate words...
Overall, it is a VERY good book!

This is a great starter book for PHP and MySQL. Uses real life examples paired with great description to fully introduce anyone to both the syntax and style of PHP as well to programming fundamentals in general such as object-oriented programming and database efficiency.
