The Collect.

Almighty God, give us grace that we may caft away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jefus Chrift came

to vifit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he fhall come again in his glorious Majefty, to judge both the quick and dead, we may rife to the life immortal, through him who liv, eth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghoft, now and ever. Amen.

This Collect is to be repeated every day with the other Collects in Advent, until Christmas Eve. The Epiftle. Rom, xiii. 8. WE no man any thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou fhalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not fteal, Thou shalt not bear false witnefs, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this faying, namely, Thou fhalt love thy neighbour as thy felf. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of fleep for now is our falvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore caft off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honeftly as in the day, not in rioting and drunken.
