About the author (2003)

George Matheson (1842-1906) was born in Scotland, and though he lost much of his eyesight early in life, he earned two degrees from the University of Glasgow. He was a gifted communicator and carried out a full range of pastoral duties despite his handicap. In addition to his duties as minister in the Church of Scotland, Matheson wrote several theological works, devotionals, and hymns, including the familiar "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go."
