The Gospel. St. Luke xiv. 1. IT came to pass, as JESUS went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread, on the Sabbath-day, that they watched him. And behold, there was a certain man before him, who had the dropsy. And JESUS answering spake unto the Lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath-day? And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; and answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass cr an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the Sabbath-day? And they could not answer him again to these things. And he put forth a parable to those who were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them, When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him; and he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place;

The Gospel. St. Matt. xxii. 34.

Then one of them, who was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? JE. The Epistle. Ephes. iv. 17. THIS I say therefore, and testify in the LORD, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind; having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of GOD, through the ignorance that is in them, because of

The Gospel. St. Matt. ix. 1. JESUS entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. And behold, they brought him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed. And JESUS, seeing their faith, said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee. And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth And JESUS knowing their thoughts, said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts ? SEE then that ye walk circum. spectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the LORD is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the SPIRIT: speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD; giving thanks always for all things unto GOD and the FATHER, in the name of our Lord JESUS CHRIST: submitting your selves one to another in the fear of GOD.

The servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
