Excerpt from Biographical Memoir of the Late Rev. Charles Wellbeloved

The memory of Mr. Wellbeloved has been honoured by various biographical tributes, which, if they have not exhausted the subject, have necessarily anticipated a part of the contents of the present volume. The memoir which occupies three num bers of the Christian Reformer, fie in particular, enters fully into the events of his life, and contains a very just and affectionate appreciation of his talents, his virtues, and his public services. In deed, the writers, having been formerly his pupils, have enjoyed means of describing what he was, in one of his most important relations, which I have not possessed. Yet it seems to be a duty for me, who knew him more intimately than any one now living, to give a picture of his life derived from that intimacy, or from materials not at the com mand of other biographers.
