The Pyramids: Their Archaeology and History

Front Cover
Atlantic Books, 2003 - History - 495 pages
Here, the Egyptian pyramids provide the inspiration for another book, although this one is not, and does not claim to be, thoroughly up-to-date. Originally published in Czech in 1997, this is an English translation of the 1998 German edition, which in many ways reflects on the results of excavations by the University of Prague's Czech Institute of Egyptology up to the late 1990s. The book is an introduction to the pyramids and pyramid-builders of Egypt, attempting to answer many of the most frequently asked questions about their construction and meaning, set within Egyptian culture and politics.
