The utility of marine infurances cannot be better exprefl'ed than in the words of the preamble to the flat. 43 Eliz. C. 12. Which recites that, By means of policies of infurance it cometh to pafs, upon the loll: or perifhing of any fhip, there followeth not the un 66mg of any man but the lofs lighteth rather eafily [upon many, than heavily upon few; and rather up on them that adventure not, than thofe that do ad venture whereby all merchants, efpecially of the younger fort, are allured to venture more willingly and more freely.'
